...it’s up the creek, it’s not too far!
San Rafael Yacht Club, founded in 1938, is
a member of Pacific Inter-Club Yacht
Association, a family of Yacht Clubs first organized in 1896. Our
4,000 square foot clubhouse is located at the West end of San Rafael
Canal in a protected harbor offering visiting boaters over 300 feet of
dock space. The warm and friendly cocktail lounge overlooks the harbor
and is adjacent to our large deck, dining and dancing areas that
accommodate well over 150 people.
The purpose of
San Rafael Yacht Club is to participate in the various activities
sponsored by yachting and boating organizations of the Bay Area, to
promote proper and safe boating, and to provide a comfortable atmosphere
of camaraderie among it's members.
We welcome you by boat or car.
Our Yacht Club is a volunteer organization,
functioning almost entirely without hired help. Members accept
Watch Assignments twice a year and remain on-call for their months to
assist in Club events. General Membership and Board of Director's
meetings are scheduled on the first and last Thursday (respectively) of
each month.
San Rafael
Yacht Club Auxiliary is an important complement to club operations and
beautification and is open to members, their spouses and children.
Dating back to the Club's origins, their fundraising events are both
creative and entertaining.
Members participate in power and sail fleet
cruises throughout the year including a Delta Cruise in August; in
P.L.R.A. and
N.C.P.C.A.;
Y.R.A. race sponsorship; as well as a winter and summer intra-club
sailboat race series. A favorite club to cruise into, SRYC hosts many
visiting yacht clubs throughout the year. The social calendar is
always full and exciting. SRYC has also been recognized by the
California State Legislature for it's humanitarian community service
involvement.
